Hastings is a seaside resort which caters for the day or weekend tripper. It has 3 miles of shingle beach and promenade complete with cycle track.

Transport
Road – The A21 trunk road from London joins the A259 south coast trunk road at Hastings
Rail – The town is served by two railway stations, Hastings and Ore. There is one line from Charing Cross and London Bridge, via Tunbridge Wells; and another from Victoria, via Eastbourne.
Brief History
There is evidence of Bronze and Iron Age settlements in parts of the town, notably on the East and West Hills.
The town and port of Hastings was probably founded in the 8th century when a tribe of Saxons, known as Haestingas (Haestas People) settled there.
Hastings was made a member of the Cinque Port Confederation by Edward the Confessor in 1050.
