Road - Hailsham is on the A22 the London to Eastbourne road.
Brief History

Hailsham is thought to have been settled by the Saxons when they invaded in the 490’sAD. It did not really start to prosper until 1252 when Henry III granted the town a charter to hold a market. The manufacture of rope was centred here in the early 1800’s and a range of rope products were made in the area. The railway came to Hailsham in 1849 and remained until 1965 when the line was closed.
