Road – Wadhurst lies on the crossroads of the B2100 and the B2099 road which joins the A21(London to Hastings road) at Flimwell about 5½ miles to the east.
Rail – the railway station is about 1½ miles north west of the town and is on the Charing Cross to Hastings line.
Brief History
An Old Saxon tribe called “the Wada” made their homes here in the 7th or 8th century. Henry III granted Wadhurst a charter to hold a market in the town. There was a thriving iron industry in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. In 1863 the last bare-knuckled fight took place in England at Sparrows Green in the town.
